China + Biologics

Welcome

Five years ago I came into the biopharmaceutical world from a completely different industry.

Although my new business role was non-technical in nature, not having a biology or pharmaceutical background presented huge challenges in communicating with colleagues and clients, most of whom were experienced scientists with PhDs.

I was faced with endless jargon and complicated concepts. Hearing conversations between specialists was like hearing another language.

No, wait, it literally WAS in another language: Mandarin Chinese!

Since then, I’ve become fluent in Chinese and become something of an industry expert (but of course, always learning!)

I created this website as way to pay it forward and help non-scientists or non-technical folks who have an interest in the industry, particularly in China, but are facing a STEEP learning curve and don’t know where to start.

No matter if you are:

An Industry Outsider

Interested in the China Biologics industry but coming from the investment world? NGO? Non-profits? Computer science & AI?

Fantastic! The industry needs your ideas and input to keep evolving. This resource will teach you just enough about the science being done at innovative companies in China to help you make better decisions and start contributing.

A Busy Manager in the Industry

Did you transfer in from another industry as a manager or executive? Or, were you originally a specialist scientist in one area but were promoted to manage multiple areas outside your expertise?

Or simply too busy and overloaded with industry white papers, trade journals and press releases? This resource will distill the essentials for the China biopharmaceuticals industry.

A Future China Returnee

Working or studying overseas and planning to return to China to work in the industry? No idea where to take your career and with no connections?

This resource will give you a head-start before you make your move and learn who the players are, their areas of work, and who is hiring.

Simple, but not Dumbed Down

I strive to explain concepts in a way that is not insulting to my readers but can be grasped quickly. After all, you are busy and have decisions to make.

Now let’s go!
